About us

Fourteen years on other
people’s roofs.

Sunwright Energy started in 2012 with two electricians, one flatbed and a contract to re-wire a textile mill in Gastonia. We have since energised 62 megawatts across 480 commercial sites, and we have never once subcontracted an install.

The problem we kept running into

Before Sunwright, our founders spent a decade as subcontracted crews for national solar developers. They watched the same thing happen on site after site: a salesperson models optimistic production, wins the contract, and hands the job to a crew who has no stake in whether the numbers hold.

The customer finds out in year two. By then the developer has moved three states away.

What we changed

We built the company so that the person who models your production is in the same building as the person who mounts your racking. Engineering, permitting, installation and maintenance all sit under one roof and one payroll.

It makes us slower to scale and it makes us more expensive than a broker. It also means we can put a 95% production guarantee in writing, which a broker structurally cannot.

Leadership

The people who sign off on your model

All three have spent time on a roof. Two still do.

Marcus Vale

Co-founder & Principal Engineer

Licensed electrical contractor, NABCEP PV Installation Professional. Signs every production model personally.

Priya Raghavan

Co-founder & Head of Operations

Runs scheduling, permitting and the utility interconnect queue. The reason install dates hold.

Tobias Lindqvist

Director of Service & Monitoring

Built the per-string monitoring stack. Owns the four-hour response commitment end to end.

How we work

Three commitments, in writing

Fixed price

The number in the proposal is the number on the invoice. Change orders happen only when you ask for a change, and they are priced before work starts.

95% production guarantee

If any contract year produces below 95% of model, we pay the shortfall at your contracted utility rate. Ten-year term, transferable if you sell the building.

Four-hour response

Monitored faults get a human on the phone within four business hours and a technician on site within two business days, for the life of the O&M agreement.
